Unfortunately, the law concerning derivative works and publicity rights is quite complicated. I have no objection to your using the image as a key image for a conference. But with respect to other possible legal issues concerning your use of the image, you'll have to take responsibility for considering them. If you do use the image, I ask that you share on the Internet something with value comparable to that which you received from this image.
